Valley YMCA Youth Skills and Drills Program

Open to Boys and Girls – Ages 3-6

Once a week for 4 weeks.

Skills and Drills dates will be on Tuesdays

Program scheduled to run: November 24th, 2026 – December 22, 2026

This program is a skills and player fun development program.

We will teach the basic fundamentals that are built on teamwork and sportsmanship.

All skill levels welcome.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES

The Grove City YMCA Jr. NBA program is a two part program designed for kids of all ages. It allows for you to choose how you want your child to develop in the game. There will be options for you to sign up for Skills and Drills and/or Game Nights. On Skills and Drills night, the goal is to sharpen all aspects of the game, prioritizing development in the basics without playing the game itself. Game Nights will be solely for game play, teaching the ins and outs of the game. Teams will be created to play together each week. There is the option to participate in both to get the most of out the program. We will only offer this option to ages 5-12. (3&4 yr. old will only be offered Skills and Drills)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Skills and Drills Night

• Skills Night will run Mondays November 9th to December 14th
• Open to boys and girls 3-12 years old
• Times: 5pm and 6pm (Age group dependent)
• Skill learning and technical ability training
• No T-Shirt For Skills and Drills

Game Night

• Game Nights will run on Tuesdays November 10th to December 16th
• Open to boys and girls 5-12
• Times: 5pm and 6pm (Age group dependent)
• Game play every night
• Each player will receive a team jersey

2 Divisions

K & 1st- (Saturdays at 10am)

2nd and 3rd (Saturdays at 11am)

Mostly Skills and Drills.  Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Layups, Basketball skills and concepts

Some mini games will be played towards the end of the season.    No Parents will be permitted in the gym the first 3 sessions unless you are signed up to be a coach.

We will work on Dribbling, Passing, Shooting using age appropriate balls and hoops.   We will work on listening skills as well.
