The Grove City YMCA Childcare has a well-balanced program that fits the needs of the children according to their ages as well as their physical, educational and social growth. Children are natural learners. Requirements for optimal growth are: a good self image, a stimulating environment, direct experience with objects and people, the opportunity to make changes and loving, caring, caregivers.  The Grove City YMCA provides all of these things plus much more.  Along with being a DPW licensed facility and we also participate in Keystone STARS for quality improvement.  Our teachers plan activities and write lesson plans based on early learning standards in Pennsylvania.  Our Child Care serves children 6 weeks of age through fifthe grade utilizing a variety of programs.

Open Door Policy

Parents are welcome to come in anytime during the day to observe their child's classroom or share their time and talents! We accept third party funding as well as financial assistance for those in need.  For more information about our programs, please call the Child Care Director at 724-458-6628 or 724-458-0838.

Infants (6 weeks - 13 months):

• Staff: child ratio 1:4
• Daily individual written reports
• Outdoor play and walks
• Warm, nurturing infant/caregiver relationship

 
One Year Old Classroom: (13 months-25 months)

• Staff: child ratio 1:5
• Daily individual written reports
• Variety indoor/outdoor play
• Variety of indoor activities
• Rest time
• Morning and afternoon snack provided

Two Year Old Classroom: (25 months - 3 years and 1 month)

• Staff: child ratio 1:6
• Daily individual written reports
• Variety indoor/outdoor activities
• Circle time/story time
• Rest time
• Morning and afternoon snack provided

Three Year Old Classroom: (3 years and 1 month-4 years)

• Staff: Child ratio 1:10
• Use developmentally appropriate curriculum that empathizes learning through hands-on experiences
• Circle time/story time/learning activities
• Variety of indoor/outdoor activities
• Rest time
• Morning and afternoon snack provided

Full-Day PreSchool/Kindergarten Care (4-5 year olds, Pre-Kers, and Kindergarteners)

• Staff: Child ratio 1:10
• Use developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes learning through hands-on experiences.
• Circle time/story time/learning activities
• Computer time for every child
• Variety of indoor/outdoor activities
• Swimming every week
• Rest time (except Kindergarten Care)
• Morning and afternoon snack provided
• On days there is no kindergarten scheduled or kindergarten is cancelled due to inclement weather, all day care is available for an additional fee.  On days kindergarten is delayed due to inclement weather, care is also available.

1/2 day PreSchool (3 years-going to Kindergarten) Monday, Wednesday and Friday
(DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR ONLY)

• Staff: Child ratio 1:10
• Use developmentally appropriate curriculum that empathizes learning through hands-on experiences
• Circle time/story time/learning activities
• Variety indoor/outdoor activities
• 8:00am-11:00am

After School Program: (Grades 1-5)
(DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR ONLY)

• Staff: Child ratio 1:12
• Located at Hillview Intermediate Center
• Snacks, games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, homework help and swimming every week
• On days there is no school scheduled or school is cancelled due to inclement weather, all day care is available for an additional fee.  On days school is delayed due to inclement weather, care is also available.

When Grove City School District is not in session during the school year, children enrolled in Kindergarten Care or School-Age Care will be charged the Preschool Daily Rate of $28.00/day.  Member discount - $24.00/day - 2nd child rates will apply.  Also, children must be enrolled in the Kindergarten or School Age Care Program to utilize the program when there is no school.
