Aqua Zumba®

Aqua Zumba® is classic water aerobics with Latin flavor added.  You will perform large muscle movements by reaching your arm and lifting your legs in water, as well as circling hips and shoulders.  The tempo for water Zumba® is half of the land tempo.

Cheerleading

Come enjoy our BRAND NEW CHEERLEADING PROGRAM. Let us provide a POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE for all involved as we cover motion, jump, stunt technique and tumbling skills. Open to boys and girls ages K-12th grade. Age divisions: K-5th, 6th-12th grade (age groups subject to change)

Co-ed Aqua Exercise

This low impact exercise class consists of warm-up, aerobic exercise, leg exercises and workout using water weights, strengthen toning and much more. Lots of fun too!! Participants do not need swimming skills to receive full benefit from this program, which is designed to make those who find it hard to move around, feel better. Aqua Exercise is a great beginning workout for all adults.

Co-ed Combo Water Fitness

This co-ed high impact class has been designed to give a good and varied workout. The Monday and Friday classes consist of aerobic water exercises as the class travels back and forth across the width of the shallow end of the pool.  Swimming skills are not necessary to benefit from the class.

Co-ed Deep Water Fitness

This high energy, early morning workout is a great way to start your day. Class is held in the deep end of the pool. Participants wear water flotation belts. This is a deep water, aerobic toning, calorie burning class. Swimming skills are not necessary to obtain full benefit from this class but participants should be comfortable in deep water.

Co-ed Hydrorobics

The pool water provides resistance that gives a great workout, strengthens and tones muscles, increases flexibility and gets your heart pumping! These high impact classes include arm and waist routines, cardiovascular section, leg exercises and cool down all too great music. Co-ed Therapeutic Water Walking

This low impact class involves stretching and moving back and forth across the shallow end of the pool while doing a variety of exercises to a variety of music. Participants improve muscle tone, flexibility and have fun. Water weights and noodles are often used to increase resistance while doing arm exercises.

Lifeguarding

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard.  Through videos, group discussion ad hands on practice, you will learn team work, rescue ad surveillance skills, first aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as professinal Lifeguard.  Participants must be 15 years of age by the last day of the class. Requirements: Must be able to swim 300 yards; retrieve a 10# brick; Non-refundable $50 deposit required at registration.  Balance due after take pre-requisite test.  All classes are mandatory.  Course book, cpr mask will be given on the first day of class.

Parent/Toddler Lessons

The YMCA Instructor works with the parent/tot teams in the YMCA pool. This program promotes water enrichment, develops skills and confidence, strengthens the bond between parents and children and contains aquatic readiness activities for children. Must be one parent to one child ratio.

Pre-School Swim Class

For children 3 to 5 years of age.  All swimmers must be potty trained.  The Grove City YMCA Aquatic Staff is dedicated to helping your child become a safe, skilled swimmer who learns to love the water. Children in our classes are encouraged to explore this new environment using swimming skill instruction and practice, games of low organization and play time. In this way your child will have the necessary opportunities to develop his/her swimming ability in an encouraging, supportive, fun atmosphere.  CLASS DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Please Remember: CLASSE SIZES ARE LIMITED.  The Grove City YMCA stays within ratios established by the YMCA of the USA.  
Maximum Enrollment: Parent/Child Ratio is 12, PreSchool Classes 6:1, Youth Classes 8:1

Levels:

  • PIKE: For Beginners who will go in the pool without a parent.
  • EEL: For children who can float on front and back and will go under water willingly.
  • RAYS: For children who can float on front and back without flotation devices and perform front paddle stroke with rhythmic breathing.
  • STARFISH: Children will refine front crawl breaststroke and elementary breaststroke

Progressive Swim Lessons

This program is comprised of five main components: Personal Growth, Personal Safety, Stroke Development, Water Sports & Games and Rescue. (Classes are subject to change) 
Remember: CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED. The Grove City YMCA stays within ratios established by the YMCA of the USA. Maximum enrollment: Parent/Child Ratio is 12, PreSchool Classes 6:1, Youth Classes 8:1

Skill Levels

  • Polliwog: For children with little swim experience. 
  • Guppy: For children who can float on front and back without a floatation device, and can front paddle with start of rhythmic breathing.
  • Minnow: For children who can swim front crawl with rotary breathing and back crawl.
  • Fish: For children who can swim front and back crawl 50 yards each.
  • Flying Fish: For children who can swim front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and elementary breaststroke 50 yards each.
  • Shark: For children who can swim 50 yards each: fly, back, breast and crawl.

Re-Certification for Lifeguarding
