Child Care Overview

Your kids are discovering all kinds of exciting worlds.  That's why at the YMCA we carefully design every activity to expand your kids' imagination and encourage powerful, positive values that last a life time. Full and part-time care is divided into specific age-appropriate programs to provide your children with the highest quality and most enjoyable experiences. For the little ones, we make sure that personal attention as well as smiles and giggles are a big part of their day. Pre-schoolers learn the importance of making choices, sharing, taking turns and working in a group while they play games, learn, and create. They learn what participation is all about in a safe environment that focuses more on fair play than the scoreboard. Each day your kids can learn new things. We make sure they will, no matter what the day.

OUR GOALS:

  • To provide a safe, relaxed, loving and calm environment where independence is encouraged and self-discipline is practiced.
  • To provide an atmosphere where self-esteem is developed and respect for others is promoted.
  • To provide an opportunity for children to make independent choices with the proper supervision and a knowledge of their limitations and expectations.
  • To provide a wide variety of age appropriate activities within a routine where cooperation play is encouraged.
  • To provide ample opportunity for the use of motor skills in curriculum areas of art, math, science, music, and movement, dramatic play, language kills, social skills and manipulative activities.

Schedule:

Infant/Toddler Care:
Ages 6 weeks to 24 months:

The YMCA offers a licensed, special developmental program that provides a healthy, safe environment for young ones age's 6 weeks to 24 months.  The demand for supplemental or out-of-care for infants and toddlers has increased rapidly in our nation and is currently the fastest growing type of child care outside the home.  Our program responds to the needs of the community by providing group care for this age.

Full Time/Part time Child Care:
Ages 3-5

The mission of the Franklin YMCA Learning Center is to provide high quality child care programs offered by a competent, committed and caring staff in a safe, healthful and nurturing environment.  Children's emotional security, intellectual stimulation, physical development and social skills are advanced through age-appropriate activities that support independent thinking, develop self-esteem, encourage self-discipline and promote respect for others.

Pre-K Counts (Ages 4-5):

Monday through Friday 8:30am-11:30am.  This is a state funded program.  Applications are available at the Y.

After School:

Children in grades K-4 will arrive at the YMCA between 3:00 and 3:30 pm.  Transportation is provided from Sugarcreek Elementary.  They will participate in activities in the gym upon arrival, and return to the program room for a snack, assistance with homework, use of the YMCA swimming pool, and arts and crafts.  Children may participate in swimming lessons, swim team, gymnastics, and other YMCA programs while attending.  Children should wear or bring tennis shoes with a team for play in the gym.  Appropriate clothing for seasonal outdoor activities is recommended.
